This course is designed for first responder personnel desiring training in the recognition and identification of military ordnance. Participants will be provided with comprehensive knowledge through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on activities designed to increase knowledge and response capabilities of state, local, and federal emergency responders. Topics include explosives and explosive effects, ordnance safety, identification and characteristics (grenades, landmines, sub-munitions, projectiles and mortars, projectile fuses, rockets, guided missiles, bomb fuses, aircraft bombs, dispensers, dispenser sub-munitions, pyrotechnics, chemical agents and compounds, chemical ordnance), fuse functioning and identification, key identification features, ordnance color coding, potential hazards & associated safeties, unexploded ordnance (UXO) reporting, firing devices, other explosive devices, and miscellaneous hazards, and UXO disposal techniques.
